Studio Ghibli fans who missed their chance to see Spirited Away in theaters last year will have another opportunity to catch it on the big screen. Beginning April 27th and running until May 1st, U.S. cinemas nationwide will be hosting showings of this beloved film as part of Studio Ghibli Fest 2024.

In addition to Spirited Away, Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 will feature a total of 14 Ghibli films throughout the year. These films will be shown in both English dubbed and subtitled versions, with the original Japanese voice work. Along with Miyazaki classics like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke, movies from other Ghibli directors such as Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Hiroyuki Morita will also be included in the lineup.

Film distributor Fathom Events has announced that the showings will not only include the films themselves but also “surprise special extra content.” This added bonus is sure to entice audiences and enhance their overall viewing experience.

While some films, like Spirited Away, will have multiple showings over several days, others may have fewer opportunities to be viewed. For example, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is listed with only three showings during one May weekend. However, the 20th-anniversary edition of Howl’s Moving Castle will have a longer run, with evening showings scheduled from September 26th through October 3rd.

For those eager to secure their seats, tickets are readily available directly from theater box offices or through the websites of Fathom Events and distributor GKids. Be sure to check the schedule for your local theaters and plan your movie outings accordingly.

The return of Studio Ghibli films to theaters is a highly anticipated event for fans of the iconic animation studio. With a diverse selection of films, special extras, and various showtimes, this year’s Studio Ghibli Fest promises to be an unforgettable experience for moviegoers. Don’t miss your chance to relive these cinematic masterpieces on the big screen once again.
