This prototype, which is the Japanese counterpart of the Super Nintendo (SNES), showcases some interesting differences compared to the console that was eventually released in 1990. Notable features include a headphone jack and volume wheel on the side, as well as the controller ports being located on the left side of the console instead of centered.
Renowned video game collector and historian Chris Kohler has described this find as “god-tier Nintendo collector bait.” The listing highlights additional unique characteristics such as a prominent red power switch and an alternate placement of the expansion port on the front of the console.
