WhatsApp for iOS has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to create events within group chats. This new capability was initially discovered in a beta version of the app for Android users, but it is now being rolled out to the stable version of the app for iPhone users. This addition comes alongside other anticipated features, such as quick replies to video notes and an in-app dialler for the Calls tab.
The new Event option in group chats on WhatsApp for iOS is accessible through the activity menu in the chat. Users can click on the “+” icon to create an event, where they can input details such as the event name, description, start time, and location if needed. Additionally, users have the option to include a WhatsApp call link that can be used to initiate a call at the beginning of the event. This feature is now available to all WhatsApp for iOS users, with gradual rollouts expected to reach all devices soon.
After updating the WhatsApp app to the latest version, Gadgets 360 staff members were able to access and test the new Event feature in group chats. In addition to the new Event feature, WhatsApp has been exploring the integration of Meta AI chatbots in different regions, including India. There are reports suggesting that users may soon have the option to choose between two AI models, namely Llama 3-70B and Llama 3-405B. While the former is designed for providing quick responses, the latter offers a larger model with 400 billion parameters. However, the release of the Llama 3-405B AI model to the public is still pending.
