The launch of the Dawntrail expansion for Final Fantasy XIV has been met with mixed reviews from players just three days after its official release. Despite offering a new story and an additional 10 levels of gameplay, some players have been vocal about their concerns regarding the new jobs introduced in the expansion. In response to player feedback, Square Enix has announced a series of changes that will be implemented in the game’s next patches.

In a recent blog post, director Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida addressed the issues raised by players and outlined the adjustments that will be made to address them. One of the main changes mentioned is related to the Viper job, a dual sword-wielding class introduced in Dawntrail. Players have expressed concerns about the complexity of the job’s skill rotation, describing it as “busy.” As a result, the upcoming patches will aim to reduce the directional requirements of the job and adjust the effects of various actions to make it more user-friendly.

In addition to the adjustments for the Viper job, several other classes will also receive changes in the upcoming patches. The Pictomancer job, another new addition in Dawntrail, will receive a bug fix to address issues with the Subtractive Palette, Aetherhues, and Aetherhues II. The Monk job will undergo adjustments to address performance issues caused by incorrect potencies and stacking problems with the Fury status. The next patch will also improve the area-of-effect attacks for the Monk class.

The Astrologian job, on the other hand, has been noted for being challenging to use during damage burst phases of battles. To address this, the recast time of Light Speed will be changed to a charged action, and the recast time of draw actions will be reduced. Additionally, the potency of the Level 90 action Macrocosmos will be adjusted. The Samurai class will see shortened recast timers for specific abilities, while the Red Mage will have the effect time of Manafication extended.

Players have also raised concerns about the difficulty of maintaining enmity as a tank due to high-damage attacks from other jobs. This issue is particularly challenging for Dark Knight and Gunbreaker characters, whose movement abilities have seen damage removed. To address this, the upcoming patches will increase the enmity effects of movement abilities and area-of-effect attacks for tanks.

Director Yoshida has assured players that not only will job-related complaints be addressed, but also other issues that may impact the overall gaming experience. Despite these challenges, the rollout of Dawntrail has been relatively smooth compared to previous expansions, thanks in part to new servers and congestion-easing measures put in place before the launch.
