Microsoft has recently launched a new feature that allows users to access their Android phones directly from the File Explorer in Windows 11. This feature, currently in testing with Windows Insiders, enables users to browse through their Android phone’s folders and files wirelessly.

Unlike the existing Phone Link app, the new integration in File Explorer provides a more seamless and efficient way to manage files between a PC and an Android phone. Users can view their Android device as a regular USB device on the left-hand side of File Explorer, giving them the ability to copy, move, rename, or delete files with ease.

To access this new feature, users must have a device running Android version 11 or higher, be part of the Windows Insider program, and have the beta version of the Link to Windows app installed. The feature is currently available for testing in all four Windows Insider channels, including the Release Preview ring, indicating that it will soon be accessible to all Windows 11 users.

To enable the File Explorer integration, users need to navigate to Settings, then Bluetooth & Devices, and finally Mobile Devices. From there, they can access the manage devices section to allow their PC to connect to their Android phone. A prompt will appear, offering a toggle for File Explorer access, as well as options for notifications and camera access.

Microsoft’s new Android phone integration feature in Windows 11 represents a significant step towards bridging the gap between PCs and mobile devices. By allowing users to manage their Android phone’s files directly from File Explorer, Microsoft is making it easier for users to seamlessly transfer data between devices. As this feature becomes more widely available, it has the potential to enhance the overall user experience for Windows 11 users.
