X’s consistent ranking as the top “News” app in the App Store is not an indicator of actual news consumption but rather a result of its categorization strategy. The app’s reliance on user-generated content disqualifies it from being classified solely as a news app. Musk’s frequent promotion of X as the leading news app across various regions is deceptive, as it presents a skewed view of the platform’s true standing in the market. X’s stagnant growth in daily active users over the past 20 months raises concerns about its ability to attract and retain users.
