WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows for more interactive and dynamic stickers thanks to the Lottie framework support. This development was initially spotted in a beta version of the WhatsApp for Android app back in February, but it is now being widely rolled out in the latest stable updates for both Android and iOS platforms.

The introduction of the Lottie framework support means that stickers on WhatsApp will now have more fluid animations. The first sticker pack to showcase this new feature is called “I’m Just a Girl”. Users with the latest version of WhatsApp on Android and iOS platforms will have access to these dynamic stickers. If the sticker pack is visible in the WhatsApp store, it means that the feature is enabled for the user.

Sticker packs on WhatsApp have traditionally been in the WebP format, which allows developers to compress image sizes without losing quality. However, the Lottie framework takes it a step further by offering more dynamic and fluid animations created using motion graphic design software like Adobe After Effects. These stickers are vector-based, allowing users to scale animations without compromising on resolution.

The “I’m Just a Girl” sticker pack, developed by BUCK, is the first official pack to be built with the Lottie framework. It features stickers with captivating animations that set it apart from other sticker packs available. Despite its dynamic animations, the pack is relatively small in size at 228KB.

In addition to the Lottie framework support, Meta Platforms (the parent company of WhatsApp) has announced the introduction of Meta AI to India. This AI chatbot, powered by Meta’s Llama 3 large language model (LLM), was first unveiled in April but is now making its way to Indian users. The AI chatbot will be accessible across various Meta-owned apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

The integration of the Lottie framework support in WhatsApp stickers represents a significant step in enhancing user experience with more engaging and dynamic animations. Coupled with the introduction of Meta AI, users can expect a more interactive and intelligent platform across various Meta-owned apps. As technology continues to evolve, WhatsApp is at the forefront of providing innovative features to its users.
