Vampire survival game V Rising has recently announced a permanent price increase from $19.99 to $34.99 on April 5th. This decision comes ahead of the game’s full 1.0 launch and has sparked mixed reactions among players. While developers Stunlock justify the price hike by highlighting the amount of content and development that has gone into the game over the past two years in early access, some players may be wary of the increased cost.

Stunlock defended their decision in a Steam blog post, stating that when V Rising was initially launched in Early Access in May 2020, it was priced lower to reflect its unfinished state. With five years of development and significant progress made during the early access period, the developers believe that the game now holds enough value to warrant the increased price tag.

Game Updates and Improvements

Despite being in early access, V Rising has received positive feedback for its enjoyable gameplay mechanics, including crafting, survival, and exploration. The game has undergone various updates during its early access phase, such as reworked magic, new areas inspired by non-vampiric creatures, and an expanded bestiary of enemies and bosses. Additionally, players can now build their own castles within the game.

The upcoming 1.0 release of V Rising, scheduled for May 5th, promises further enhancements to endgame PvP, changes to armor and gear for better class specialization, as well as improvements in visuals and performance. Stunlock has reassured players that the game will continue to receive updates and new features post-launch, ensuring that players will continue to receive value for their increased investment.

Players who have already purchased V Rising or do so before April 5th will not be affected by the price increase and will receive all future updates at the original price. Additionally, the cost of DLC packs will remain unchanged, providing players with the option to purchase additional content at their own pace.

While the price increase for V Rising may come as a surprise to some players, the developers have justified their decision based on the game’s development progress and added content. With the upcoming 1.0 release bringing even more features and improvements, players can expect to continue enjoying the game despite the higher cost. Ultimately, the value of V Rising will be determined by the player’s individual experience and enjoyment of the game.
